Lassen Volcano Event Tree
University of South Florida Volcanology Group
Example Event Tree for the Lassen Volcanic System (CA)
Volcanologists use event trees to describe the complex series of events that may occur during volcanic eruptions. Nodes (circles) are events, and events proceed from left to right with time. The following is an example of an event tree developed for the Lassen Volcanic System, California, during a recent IAVCEI workshop. Expand or contract the event tree by clicking on red nodes and consider the sequence of events. Solid red nodes can be expanded; unfilled nodes can be contracted.
